Vancouver, BC // Private Residential Owner

Working closely with the clients, LOCI led a complete re-design of the exterior spaces adjacent to a newly renovated contemporary house on Vancouver’s west side.

Design Focus

Lost in all the mumbo jumbo? No problem. Here’s a breakdown of what this project has added to the space/our design focus in one digestible pie chart.

This Project in Numbers

Proposed Trees
Trees provide shade in hot summer months, thereby reducing heat island effect while enhancing habitat for birds, insects and bees.

Planting Beds/Permeable Landscapes
Plants and soil combined to absorb, uptake and re-use rainwater, reducing the load of run-off into our storm system.

Outdoor Social Amenities
Outdoor dining/social area, a communal long and sun deck, and child play area, and various benches throughout the mews.

01 // Plan

LOCI led a diversified and energetic team of contractors, lighting designers and fabricators to create custom furnishings and architectural elements that were unique to the residence, from vertical screens and gardens, to seat walls, to paving combinations, to entry signage.

02 // Concepts + Visualisations

The client was taken through concept sketches, 3D modelling and construction details, culminating in the successful implementation of a series of outdoor spaces, with high-end materials, form and texture.

03 // Execution + Build

We worked very closely with the various contractors, overseeing the execution of details to ensure the design intent was carried out through construction.  The result is a collection of great private outdoor spaces that the family can enjoy for years to come.
