01 // Plan
Strategically located along the main diagonal of the larger site, adjacent to the proposed 1-acre Urban Farm, 2.5 Acre City Park, and with a visual connection to the future Sky Train station, a large part of this parcel will function as the social “heart” of Cambie Gardens. Pearson Plaza, High Street Commons, retail frontages and streetscapes all come together to form a highly visible and welcoming public realm.
02 // Pearson Plaza
The main plaza south of the buildings lies at the intersection of some of the site’s key visual and physical thoroughfares, brushing shoulders with the Urban Farm and City Park to the west. With an abundance of sun exposure and lined with commercial retail units, this space is designed to become the “place to be” in Cambie Gardens, with programmatic elements including: a performance stage, raised sunset lawn, retail corridor, event/farmer’s market area, and contemplative tree bosque.
03 // High Street Commons
LOCI has developed the Cambie Gardens site with wayfinding and circulation in mind, and the High Street Commons is a great example of this – a green corridor mid-block connection that forms a “greenway” from the City Park to West 57th Ave. Large trees, lush plantings, a pathway and playful thematic elements create a “garden in the city” experience for those entering the centre of the site from its prominent north edge.
04 // Amenity Decks
The useable space for the upper level amenities is maximized with the terraced approach of the building form, allowing for a series of south-facing, open and highly-activated social spaces that focus on everything from social gatherings, to informal games, to child play, to urban agriculture, to rainwater management.
