Vancouver, BC // Westbourne Projects, in collaboration with Omicron
LOCI, together with Omicron, worked closely with Westbourne Projects as part of a comprehensive design team to design and oversee construction of the Vancouver Christian School’s new Mons Drive campus.
01 // Plan + Refine
A complete tear-down and replacement facility, the new school features many outdoor play and social spaces, playgrounds, and active and passive play elements. Ecology design as a tool for education played a role in the design and implementation of rain gardens, green walls, and rooftop absorptive landscapes.
02 // Siteworks
Other design considerations and challenges included the site’s significant grade change (addressed via extensive retaining walls, stairs and boulder groupings) as well as programming for a wide range of age groups and abilities.
