01 // Urban Design
The shear scope and size of this project from an urban design perspective has necessitated intense studies of form and function, at various scales, between architecture, landscape architecture, city engineers, and planners. Designing and programming for a site this large, to be stitched into the fabric of the larger “open space quilt” of Bellevue, has been a massive undertaking, and a highly rewarding process to be a part of.
02 // Visualize
This project, perhaps more than any other project we’ve worked on in the last few years, has benefitted greatly from 3D modelling and fly-through animations to help communicate design ideas and experiences for our Client, city staff, and the general public.
03 // Bellevue ‘Grand Connection’
A big challenge for this project is the City-led mandate that it become part of a larger pedestrian corridor and linear park known as the “Grand Connection”, a series of linked public spaces that will connect downtown Bellevue with the waterfront. LOCI has worked closely with the architect of the “Grand Connection” plan, Balmori, to ensure the high level design considerations of the overall master plan find their way into our design at the site scale.
04 // Coming Soon
2021 promises to be a big year for the project, as we near the master development permit approvals, followed by detailed design and working drawings.
